1 Timothy 5:3

Early in the summer, I was praying about what I should do for my senior project. One day my Mom asked me to go pick up bread from our neighbor's house. My neighbors, the Sorrell's, were gracious to share their extra bread that Panera donated to them. After Dan Sorrell, the father and husband in the Sorrell household passed away last spring from terminal brain cancer, money has been tight. Places like the food bank and Panera bread have stepped in to help support the Sorrell family, but those kind acts are only a drop in the bucket compared to the need. While walking over to the Sorrell's home to pick up bread, my heart ached for them. These are my neighbors, how can I love them? This is a widow, how can I care for her?  When there is a need so great right next door, why am I not doing something? But what can I do? I have no time, no resources, I can't think of anything. Lord, what can be done? And then it came to me. Why hadn't I thought of this earlier? It was so obvious-plan a 5k and use the funds to support the Sorrell family. I carried the bread home and then asked my Mom what she thought of the idea. She told me to pray about it, so I did. I could not think of a better way to use the money from a 5k and so that is when I decided to move forward with the planning.

My goal is to raise funds to support the Sorrell family. The funds will go towards Dan Sorrell's medical bills at the UW Medical Center, common goods needed by the Sorrell's, home repairs, or any other necessary needs.
